Embrace the Brighter Days: Celebrating an Iconic British Brand This March
One whole year. But with the anniversary of the lockdown comes hope.
I particularly like March as it’s a month of change. And who doesn’t like seeing lambs in the fields, too? Perhaps that’s just me, as it reminds me of growing up on a farm.
This year, the 28th of March heralds the beginning of British Summer Time. When the clocks spring forward, everything seems brighter, a promise of better times to come.
This March, we are celebrating an iconic British brand—not just an iconic eyewear brand but an iconic British brand full stop. One patient who now wears Cutler & Gross wrote, “I discovered Cutler & Gross after a lockdown eye test at Arthur Hayes. The abundance of frame choices available was instantly edited when Lucinda showed me the Cutler & Gross frames. They immediately felt right: modern, quality and effortlessly cool. Who would have thought that a lockdown eye test could be a highlight in life?” Patrick M.
Cutler & Gross have a remarkable history.
“Founded in 1969, British luxury eyewear brand Cutler and Gross combine the finest Italian craftsmanship with irrefutably cool style. Since its establishment in fashion’s halcyon days, the brand’s signature creativity has been applied to sunglasses and optical frames with their trademark numbered designs and absence of an ostentatious logo.
For decades, Graham Cutler and Tony Gross’s frames relied, in part, upon their reputation being dripped and whispered within the style and fashion circles like verbal quicksilver. Considered bastions of iconic eyewear, Cutler and Gross's designs continue to grace many of the most recognisable faces in art, design, music and film. Today, the brand has stores in the UK, North America and Canada and is stocked in the selected department, optical and concept stores worldwide.”
Cutler & Gross frames are no strangers to the big and small screens. In Notting Hill, Julia Roberts sports an upswept cat’s eye frame, Colin Firth and Mark Strong wear the signature Kingsman styling, and Daniel Craig looks a little less Bond-like in Knives Out.
With names such as Humble Potato, Prawn Cocktail, and Granny Chic, Cutler and Gross combine subtle British humour with beautiful designs and wonderful styling. It is always a pleasure to fit a pair of these frames, and they also help to support a fantastic British business.
If you’d like to try some Cutler & Gross frames or any of our other unique optical brands, we look forward to welcoming you into practice soon.
